Los Angeles Angel’s manager Mike Scioscia stirred up conversation about shortening the Major League Baseball season. According to the Orange County Register, Scioscia came up with two interesting concepts when asked about the length of the baseball season last week. “If you went to 154 games, you would lose a lot of gate revenue. But if you blend it – cut down some games and some dates, to minimize the impact, you could tighten the schedule by a week to 10 days to accommodate an expanded division series and get the World Series done in October like it should be.”…
Shia LaBeouf is one of those guys in Hollywood who comes out of nowhere — he starred in Even Stevens — and now he’s a mega-action-star. Since he jumped as Jerry in Eagle Eye and took a turn as the spawn of Indiana Jones he’s been in great shape. With most of these actors I profile I find that they have relatively commonplace ways of doing things and a really strange method of implementation. Shia has neither. This is about as straightforward as it gets. If you read my piece on MMA workouts then you’ll remember that a reference was…
Dr. Scott Connelly wants the world to believe he’s the foremost authority on health and nutrition, particularly when it comes to protein science. He’s best known as the creator of MET-Rx, the popular meal replacement that became a sensation in the 90’s, and was endorsed by star athletes, including Troy Aikman. On the verge of bankruptcy, Connelly sold MET-Rx to the Shansby Group for $10 million. Shansby turned around and sold it for $108m to Rexall Sundown in 1999. Scott Connelly resurfaced only to fail miserably, attempting to sell protein enriched dog food, K9-Rx, using his signature, shirtless ab-shot next…

How can a gland the size of a pea and weighing less than 0.02 ounces have such a profound effect on the human body? When underactive, especially in children, the result can be dwarfism, while an overactive gland can cause some to become giants. Grown men with seven figure salaries go in search of ways to enhance its productivity and the governing bodies of both the sporting world and the law look for ways to suspend use of drugs that can artificially enhance this oh-so-important bodily function. Of course, the gland in question is the pituitary gland, a tiny thing…
Last week reports surfaced that former USC running back Reggie Bush may be forced to return his 2005 Heisman Trophy by the Heisman Trophy Trust. On Tuesday ESPN reported that Bush decided with all of the controversy surrounding the award he would forfeit the award and return it of his own accord. Runner-up in the ’05 Heisman Trophy voting, Vince Young, said in an interview with Hannah Storm, “I definitely want it,” when referring to a possible decision made by the Heisman Trophy Trust. The Heisman Trophy Trust has not decided to hand down the award or vacate at this…
To piggy-back on last week’s article Humor is definitely a turn-on for most women. It shows us that a man doesn’t take life too seriously and is able to let down his inhibitions. One thing, however, that can turn us off is the overly sarcastic and sometimes sardonic humor and jokes. “Seinfield” is a great show, but if after everything she says, you have some witty sarcastic remark to counter it, she might get turned off. If she says something like, “Do you enjoy bars?” and you say something like “Oh yes, I enjoy a plié or a Rond de…
The NFL season started off with a bang and over the past few days I’ve learned some things that I should have known better about. Honestly, I’m just now getting up to speed on some people. Some folks I defended over and over until it became apparent that I couldn’t count on them. Others just stunk up the joint and proved to me that betting against them is smart. I once heard Scott Van Pelt say on his radio show that Tiger Woods passed him in the hall at a tournament and said, “Don’t ever bet against me.” That kind…
Monday’s report on Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant was that he was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Tuesday, ESPN Adam Schefter reported that Grant will need surgery to correct a torn ligament in his ankle. The corrective surgery is expected to keep him on crutches for 10-12 weeks. Foxsports.com reported that Grant will be placed on injured reserve which would end his season. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy classified the injury as “significant.” Grant is possibly headed to New York for a second opinion. Backup running back Brandon Jackson is expected to get the…
Monday night the New York Jets lost a whole lot more than just one football game, according to ESPN they lost defensive tackle Kris Jenkins for the season. Jenkins suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. Jenkins was hoping to have a successful comeback after returning from the same injury, on the same knee from last season. According to the ESPN broadcast during Monday’s game, Jenkins was contemplating retirement this off-season. He lost over 30-pounds and trained hard after last season’s ACL injury only to be a part of six plays. At 31-years-old, the future…
