For the second consecutive season Urban Meyer resigns as the Florida Gators head football coach. Last season it was more-so due to health related issues and only lasted one day before he announced an indefinite leave of absences – Meyer returned for spring practices this season. At age 46, Meyer made no hints about his health, but a desire to spend more time focusing on his family. This announcement comes off of his worst season as the Gators head man: 7-5. The University of Florida released a statement on Wednesday citing his reasons which mainly centered around focusing more on…

We’re sitting at home last night and my wife turns to me and says, “When did Marky Mark go from the Funky Bunch to respected actor? How is that even possible?” Honestly, I don’t know the answer, but from “Good Vibrations” all the way to “The Italian Job,” “The Departed,” and “Max Payne” he’s been ripped. Remember when he was just some dude with no shirt in his music videos? Man, now I sound old. Today, he’s putting his physique back in action with a turn in “The Fighter.” If you’ve seen the trailers it’s pretty obvious stuff. He plays…

On Monday the Denver Broncos confirmed rumors that Josh McDaniels has been fired. McDaniels became the Broncos head coach last season and got off to a 6-0 start. Since that time the Broncos have lost 17 of their last 20 games. Last week, Broncos owner, Pat Bowlen announced that McDaniels would be the head coach for the 2011 season. These comments were released after the league fined McDaniels $50K for videotaping a 49ers practice while the two teams were in London. McDaniels continues the trend of coaches being fired during the season, becoming the third such coach this year. The…

Last time I looked TCU doesn’t have any losses. Their defense stood up strong all season and they’re going to be on the outside looking in. This isn’t any different from Auburn’s undefeated season in which they ended up third in the final BCS standings back in 2003. Auburn felt jilted then and so should TCU now. At this point we need a playoff because we don’t have a total BCS disaster, but we still have a team with a score to settle. Moreover, there are some one-loss teams with scores to settle. Just imagine all the Super Bowl winners…

How could mice running around some lab in Italy possibly have an impact on your personal health and fitness? Plenty, according to a study reported in the October 2010 issue of Cell Metabolism. Last year, researchers in Milan, Italy began providing mice with a special cocktail laced with branched-chain amino acids, specifically, leucine, isoleucine, and valine. The animals in the study were middle-aged, male mice (equivalent to the typical guy you see at the gym straining on the free weights, trying to hang with the younger alphas). These guys were used to chowing on your run-of-the-mill mouse food (whoppers and…

If you’re one of the millions of guys out there wondering why you and your girlfriend are never on the same page, you’re not alone. She’s probably wondering the same thing too—why you’re not on HER page. Women, the more complex of the sexes seem like they can never make up their minds but the truth is all you have to do is ask them what they want and they’ll let you know. It may be completely different than what they said yesterday but honestly, it’s better to ask than to assume. I interviewed a couple of my closest friends…

Continuing our Ordinary Super Foods series, today we’ve got beets. Beets get a bad rap, but they’re tasty, easy to prepare, and fantastic for the body. If you’re still in doubt after reading about all of the benefits, just give one of the recipes a try. I’ll admit to being a beet hater until I had a fantastic salad with gorgonzola, candied walnuts, and fresh beets over spinach. I was instantly converted after falling in love with that dish. Many thanks to Wolfgang Puck for serving it on his menu at Downtown Disney in Orlando! Whether you’re looking to prevent…
