We had some changes in life over the last two weeks, but not such big changes on the scale. I’m surprisingly OK with that, given how busy life has been. I started Rolfing, changed gyms, and took a more moderate approach to my weight loss efforts. New Digs I joined a different gym, and the class menu is exciting. There are almost 70 classes per week, giving me zero excuses to skip. The childcare area is lovely, though the new baby has to be three months old before she’s allowed to go. Given that we’re heading into cold and flu…

The University of Miami has got to be the stupidest college in America.  I don’t care if it’s a private school.  I don’t care if they have “good programs,” and I certainly don’t care that they used to have Butch Davis, Larry Coker, Dennis Erickson and Jimmy Johnson coaching them. They don’t now, and that’s their problem.  They think it’s still 1991 and they should be undefeated, etc.  They think they should own the college football landscape.  They think they should be almighty and powerful (and they forget that they lost the national title in 2002 to Ohio State.  I…

Anthony Roberts is in hot water again, and it appears his blog www.anthonyrobertsonline.com, which was seized by US marshals was the first, but not the last of his cyber-hate platforms to be seized. Thanks to a brave new host in South Africa, along with the work of many forensic specialists and coordinated legal teams here and abroad, www.anthonyroberts.co.za has also been shut down. Years ago, if a bully was picking on you at a playground, you’d tolerate it for only so long before reaching your breaking point – the point where you’ve received enough torment –  you’d decide to wait…

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Madonna and every new boyfriend she has  — these are a few famous women who have gone younger when it comes to their men. Once upon a time the common story of a young woman being whisked away by an older man has expanded to include young men and older women. An older woman represents wisdom and confidence. She knows what she wants in a relationship because she’s had a few in her lifetime that taught her exactly about who she is. Like wine, she is refined and sophisticated, but…

Eastern Conference Philadelphia Flyers Through 22 games, the Flyers have compiled 30 points and lead the Atlantic Division by 4 points. Seth Rogen debuts as The Green Hornet in theaters and he’s not exactly the type you’d take for an action hero. Actually, he doesn’t seem like the action-type at all. Usually, comedic actors are the guys who make jokes in action movies but don’t do any stunts. Think Joe Pesci in the Lethal Weapon movies. People got shot and lots of stuff blew up, but he was just funny. Rogen isn’t the funny man in The Green Hornet. He IS The Green Hornet. So, how does an overweight actor lose a little weight and get ready to do most of…

This week the NBA took a few interesting turns as teams start to show us who they really are. Now that we’re about 15 games into the season it’s a simple who’s up and who’s down. This includes team like the Spurs (who have put together a nice winning streak) and the Knicks who are, miraculously, at 6-8. Then there are the favorites in both conferences; The Heat and the Lakers. The Lakers are way up after Pau Gasol had a perfect night shooting the ball, and the Heat are down another player. There’s a great deal of the season…

The Week in Hockey Sunday, November 14 The New York Rangers started off the week routing the Edmonton Oilers 8-2. Marion Gaboriak had a hat trick and an assist for four points and Alexander Frolov scored a goal and three assists. Niklas Backstrom continued his strong…

Friday marks the kickoff of the Iron Bowl, Arizona/Oregon, and Boise State/Nevada. Saturday could be the heaviest hangover college football has seen in a long time. Each of these games possesses a large part of the BCS formula within its results. A loss (or even a nasty win) could spell doom for so many teams, and mean great fortune for others. There are plenty of one-loss teams that stand to gain from “off” performances on Friday night. Boise State can’t avoid a slip-up, Oregon needs to keep rolling, and Auburn can’t stop now. How big is each game? Arizona at…
