I write before your very eyes as a man who tried his hardest to keep his diet in place through the holidays ( Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) and still I am 5 pounds heavier.  I realize it could be way more significant then it is, so I want to share some of the things I used to get by.  First off diets have to be something similar to how you want to eat for the rest of your life.  If it is too extreme it will be nearly impossible to maintain so the lost weight will return, so make it…

“No one can hang with Rich Franklin!”, says Franklin’s conditioning coach. In this clip, Rich Franklin performs an amazing sixty minutes straight of weight lifting. As his coach says, “He is a machine”. Rich Franklin is for real. He doesn’t arbitrarily prepare for his fights like they don’t matter, he trains like a champion, to win. Hard work like this can make all the difference in the cage. When two fighters have similar skills, the fight can easily come down to who is stronger and or who has more endurance. Rich Franklin knows this and makes sure he gets the…

Joe Weider’s staggered sets principle is actually an extended muscle priority training principle. Priority training emphasizes large muscle groups or underdeveloped muscles. Usually, it is those muscles that need more energy. They are the muscles of hips, chest, back and shoulders. Some muscles are denser than the others and, thus, they are slower to be built. Yet, they don’t need much of energy when you train them. With staggered sets, you train smaller, slower-developing body parts in between the sets for large muscle groups. You can use this technique while doing exercises for any of major body parts you are…

Stepping into the Octagon is pretty much the biggest thing that can happen in a MMA fighter’s career. It is the place where every amateur MMA fighter ultimately wants to end up. With that great honor, comes a certain amount of stress. All the bright lights, TV cameras and huge crowds of people have a way of making people nervous. Then you throw in the fact that the opponent you are facing is also at the top level of MMA and could give you the fight of your life. The word nervous may not serve justice to the feelings a fighter may have before…

According to National Cancer Institute (NCI), excessive consumption of vitamins is linked to an increased risk of fatal prostate cancer. Damn, you know Forrest Griffins grill is hurting today. Rashad Evans gave his face a pounding. It always amazes me some of the shots these fighters take once they are either dazed or knocked out. The left handers that Rashad was pouring on Griffin towards the end of their fight were square on the face and completely undefended. The ref probably could have stopped it about three punches earlier. Here is a clip of the beating that Forrest took.

First off, I’d like to congratulate Frank Mir on his outstanding performance in this “interim” title fight vs. Nogueira.  Frank truly put on a showing, and proved he is a true student of the game, as Joe Rogan mentions during the fight, Mir is always watching fights and studying the game. Frank has never looked better.  Everyone knows Frank has never quit, and after this comeback and the road he is currently on, he said it best, “anyone can do it.”  As long as they put in the effort such as he did that is. Joe Rogan stated Frank is…
