Jamarcus Russell former starting QB for the Oakland Raiders has been struggling with his on-field athletic performance, since, he was drafted into the NFL. The recent decision to bench him has caused many to ask and wonder…. what was the delay? Russell has earned a shameful position in the NFL QB rankings as having the second worst winning percentage and pass completions of a QB in the league. Matthew Stafford is even more shamed with the #1 worst ranking. He earned it with a 2-32 winning percentage, extremely minimal pass completions and passing rush yards for 20 yards or more.…
Now, before you starting thinking I am a crazy, vampire Twilight movie fan – stop! I am actually a football fan, too. I’ve read some of the posts here about NFC or AFC and thought this post of Twilight movie star Kristen Stewart throwing a football. Some of you can’t stay up late and watch the late, late shows on television. That said, the other night Jimmy Fallon welcomed Twilight’s leading lady – Kristen Stewart. After an appearance on Jay Leno – Taylor Lautner mentioned that Kristen has quite a throwing arm. Then, on Jimmy Fallon’s show – Jimmy tests her skills in…
Boxers wear sweat vests or even full body suits to lose water weight for their weigh in before a fight, but are they beneficial for you or me? If you do not mind sweating a great amount, sweat vests are useful. Remember, it is water lost not fat, although the body does heat up a great amount so a substantial calorie burn encounters the body. When the pores are open, the body acts like a sponge, can absorb toxins and also release them through the lymph glands. Whether specialized suits are purchased, sweatz vest, or simple plastic or bin liners…
If, like me, you train at a normal gym like FitnessFirst, and not one of those special bodybuilding gyms, then you must of noticed by now that a lot of the idiots there don’t train their legs, and just work on their upper-body. I mean, sure you see people on the treadmills, but when do you see people do squats? You just don’t. I often see guys with huge upper torsos, and then weed-like legs. So many excuses have been created for this, including: -’My legs are fine.’ -’I run on the treadmill to train my legs’ -’Squats hurt my…
As I closed my college picks last week I said “Notre Dame still sucks!” and with that proclamation I had no idea that ND would actually get worse, but they did. Now the Golden Domers, appalled over another bad loss, are considering getting rid of Weis (a.k.a. Fat Bastard) and paying him that ridiculous buyout. (Yes, I think he eats babies!) Besides the fact that they were dumb enough to give it to him in the first place I’d say that the $18 million they would owe him is prohibitive on all fronts. Just think about it for a second. …
5. The WEC always delivers: World Extreme Cagefighting is one of those organizations that never fails to bring the excitement. They only have three weight classes, 155, 145 and 135 and it’s a known fact that lighter weight classes = more exciting fights. These guys are like energizer bunnies, they hardly ever gas and they go at each other for 15 (or 25) minutes straight if need be. Every single WEC event in the past 6 months has provided a fight of the year candidate (Brown/ Faber 2, Torres/ Mizugaki, Cerrone/ Henderson, etc). If you love great fights, you’ll love…
Note: This was slated to go up Saturday, but inclement weather and a busy schedule postponed it. My apologies on that front. So, the other day, we spun around the AFC at the midway point and gave a quick synopsis of what’s happened, an overall grade, and their potential for the second half. I’m sure that the two Browns fans in the world left will be steamed about the F- I gave their franchise, but I’ll be honest. I only gave them a F-, because you can’t give them anything lower…like a Z. With that said, let’s get cracking on…
Remember when the NFL was full of entertaining players and personas? From the Fridge to Lawrence Taylor to Jim McMahon, Ickey Woods, right on down the line, the 1980s and early 1990s were a great time for the league and its fans. The league was exciting, celebrations and flamboyance were as common as the Buccaneers getting pummeled wearing those day glo orange uniforms, and life was good. You had coaches like Mike Ditka and Jerry Glanville walking the sideline, guys that were larger than life attitude wise, and more than ready to make a quip, a one liner, or something…
Say “Hello” to your neck by reaching behind your head and feeling your hand on the back of your neck. You neck has a very important job to do and that is support your head. The muscles of the neck rotate and flex the neck backwards and forwards as well as side to side. Even when you turn your head, your neck muscles do all the work to support your head. If the neck is not ready or exercised properly, the movement of the neck becomes achy and stiff. And that can be a pain in the neck. A strong…
This is a tough little magic workout that fatigues the arms, works the pectoral muscles, abdominals, arms, back, buttocks, legs, and the heart through the cardiovascular workout of skipping, the body weight training of the press-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks, and plyometric training of the press-up burpees. This workout will take around 25-30 minutes depending on how many breaks you take. It makes use of jump rope, plyometric training, and bodyweight training. This can be performed anywhere, but somewhere like a laminate floor or gym based floor is best. Concrete is harsh on the joints, and grass will more than…
