With the hyped return of Tito Ortiz to competition derailed by a very game Forrest Griffin, I can’t help but notice a growing trend in the UFC; you really can’t teach an old dog new tricks. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the call to arms for fans of the Hall of Fame hopeful’s chance to prove they’ve still got it. And in so many cases they do come out and fight their fight, regardless of inactivity or age. The sad truth, however, is while they were vacationing and doing publicity junkets, MMA passed them by. Tito…

Mauer earned 27 of 28 first-place votes by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees finished second and third, respectively, and Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera earned the other first-place vote and finished fourth. Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer was named the American League’s 2009 Most Valuable Player today, becoming the fifth league MVP in team history. The fourth, 2006 winner and former roommate Justin Morneau, brought him something to celebrate. “Right now we’re at the Metrodome,” Mauer said in a conference call this afternoon. “He came up with a bottle of champagne.…

Once one of the proudest and winningest traditions in the history of college football, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have seemingly been in tatters the past decade plus.  The school is laced with Heisman Trophy winners, seven in all, tied with Ohio State and USC for the most in college football history.  However, even that has seemingly fallen on hard times, as wide receiver Tim Brown was the last recipient for the Irish, more than two decades ago. Saturday may have been the final nail in the coffin of coach Charlie Weis in his five year tenure with the school.…

The Chiefs beating the Steelers after I said “the Chiefs are worthless”.  Nothing is more irritating than a pathetic and worthless team beating a perfectly legitimate team for absolutely no reason.  If Matt Cassel is going to be a failure he needs to stay that way so I can keep my bearings in the NFL.  You know, if you watch TV or movies (especially TV) certain characters stay the way they are.  On CSI (yes, the first one) Paul Millander was a freaking nutcase psychopath and he didn’t change one bit from beginning to offing himself. He was a loony…

Bodybuilders know the importance of keeping their bodies in physical shape. It takes commitment and perseverance just like keeping relationships healthy and happy. One neat trick to keeping a body in shape is jumping rope. Many benefits can be experienced. Some bodybuilders may believe that it is tedious or boring, but that’s not actually true.  When a bodybuilder experiences confidence and is at ease with skipping rope, he can include many moves and foot patterns to liven up the jumping rope routine. A simple addition to jumping rope is incorporating dance basics, like right foot jump, two foot jump, and…

With the growing influence of Mixed Martial Arts in the mainstream media, one has to ask the question; “How will this change the future of America?”. There is evidence all around us that the sport is involved in nearly every aspect of our lives. From magazine covers featuring GSP’s secret to a better physique, to Chuck Liddell “Dancing With the Stars”, the tidal wave of MMA is saturating our minds. Is it simply a fascination with these modern day gladiators? Or could it be that the media machine behind the UFC, and other organizations, has finally done its job of…

Well they say hindsight is 20/20, but looking back on last night’s fights, there were definitely a few things I missed when making my fight predictions.  I went 3-4 overall and the only fight I was 100% correct on was “Lil Nog’s” knockout victory over Luiz Cane. On the opening fight of the Spike TV portion of the undercard, Kendall “The Spyda” Grove withstood an early assault from Jake Rosholt and pulled a beautiful submission off.  As I expected, Rosholt used his wrestling to take Grove down repeatedly, but what I should have seen coming was Grove’s excellent jiu-jitsu.  Grove…

The muscles of the neck rotate and flex the neck backwards and forwards in addition to side to side. Even when you turn your head, your neck muscles do all the work to support your head. Exercising the neck and using proper form relieves stiffness and loosens the neck muscles, so the tendons and nerves are stimulated.  Most neck exercises can be performed while seated or standing unless otherwise directed. The first exercise for the neck is very simple and can be done throughout the day to help keep the kinks away. You basically place your head and neck in…

There are a variety of methods in which to cook food, so whether frying, stir-frying, sauteing, grilling, braising, baking, microwaving, broiling, steaming, roasting, or poaching, which is the healthiest method of cooking. Frying – although not the healthiest of methods within which to cook food, fried food is often tasty but  also contains many calories. Food is fried in the already melted liquidised fat.
