In the 14-games of week 6 in the NFL, 8-games were decided by 4-points or less. We had two overtime games, one team notching their first win, and a game in which Favre played in and he didn’t lose the turnover battle in a close finish. Really, no joke! All of this and much more as we have a smorgasbord of recaps and injury updates on the entire mouthful that is week 6 in the NFL. Vikings Win Panic Bowl This game had the kind of desperation that only people on three different dating sites can relate too. Both teams…
Last month, just as youth all across America were getting ready to hit the fields for football and soccer games, the House Education and Labor Committee held a hearing debating the merits of a recent bill that would help protect young people from the consequences of a severe head injury, specifically, concussions. Why would the House worry about what a kid does on some soccer field in some nameless suburb? Do we really need legislation against those bone-rattling helmet-to-helmet hits that make teammates shout and adults stand and cheer? According to committee chair, George Miller, Democrat of California, yes, we…
There is a lot of confusion and misconception on how long one should rest between sets. Some people advise 30 seconds, others 1 minute, and then there are even people that rest 5 minutes or more between each set. Other training methods disregard the goal of the training program and just give a basic rest period, like 3 minutes. That makes no sense whatsoever and I am going to show you why. So what is the right answer? When training for muscles size and strength you are using a different energy source than training for power. So the first thing…
So I joined a Thread on my Forum last week and it happened to turn into a good debate , so I figured why not bring it to my readers and maybe get some feedback from them. The issue was a member was upset because he felt that the source was rude and wasn’t really willing to answer a simple question he had. This member thought since he was spending his hard earn money , he deserved a resemblance of customer service. My point was that this is a black market industry, and within a black market you get most…
The Minnesota Golden Gophers fired head football coach Tim Brewster on Sunday. Brewster lead the team to a 15-30 record over four seasons from 2007-2010. Former Indianapolis Colts head coach, Tony Dungy, is an alumnus of the University of Minnesota, and some people were hoping he may want to make a return to the sideline. ESPN is reporting that Dungy told athletic director Joel Maturi that he is not interested in returning to coaching. Maturi said that Dungy doesn’t want to coach, but would be willing to assist in the search to find a replacement for Brewster. Maturi said he…
We hear about it in commercials for everything from Cheerios to butter spreads. It’s cholesterol and although our bodies need it to function properly, too much cholesterol can lead to problems like atherosclerosis and hearth disease. But what exactly is cholesterol, and how does it impact your health? Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that is made in the liver. Cholesterol is vital for maintaining cell walls, making hormones, and is also necessary for manufacturing bile, and vitamin D. Sometimes, however, our bodies produce more cholesterol than we really need or we can take in too much cholesterol through our…
Are you looking for a new way to challenge your body? Many times we are strapped for time and need to just focus on getting our workouts done, with little time to try out new moves and new equipment. But what if I told you there is a way to build bigger muscles and get a more athletic build? I bet you are interested now! People tend to use the cable machine for single muscle movements and only perform one or two drills as well. But the cable machine is one of the most effective ways to work out your…
It might be hard for some of us to understand why men and women have sex the first time they meet, but the truth is that it happens. There’s the “college years” where rebellion and promiscuity are at their heights and then there are other random moments when two people click and decide to take the plunge upon first meeting each other. As always, our choices bring consequences and we are all free to make our own decisions when it comes to this subject. Standing back and objectively considering both sides — here are reasons why people may or may…
With the American League Championship Series about to kick off, there is no shortage of storylines. The Yankees and Angels split their regular season series with each team winning five games and if that is any indication as to how this series will go, it should be a good one. Here are five of the more interesting headlines heading into the ALCS. 1. Angel in the outfield- The Angels are clearly playing with some extra emotion this postseason after losing their young teammate, pitcher Nick Adenhart, early in the season. A picture of the late 22 year old is painted on the outfield wall and their celebration after clinching the…
Argh! South Carolina beats Alabama last week and this week they can’t even close out Kentucky? Are you kidding me!?! This is what I’m talking about. Some teams just can’t seem to get anything right. It never changes either. A team gets in a rut and they stay in it. The Royals. South Carolina. The Pirates. The Lions. Washington State. Just go down the list and you’ll slap yourself in the forehead every time thinking, “Oh gosh, what a disaster they are!” But, at the top of the list, is South Carolina. They beat Alabama and were set to make…
