Back muscles are often neglected or not properly trained because you cannot see your results very well. However, the back muscles play a very important role in your day-to-day activities. Also, a well-defined back can make you stand out from the competition. The three large muscles that make up the back can be trained with a variety of exercises. Since the back can lift heavy weight and train hard, these muscles will burn more calories per day than smaller muscles, like the glutes or biceps. Another great benefit of strengthening the back is that it helps your posture. Back muscles…

On Sunday Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan benched starting quarterback Donovan McNabb at the end of the game in favor of back-up Rex Grossmen. On Tuesday ESPN reported that the Redskins brought in former Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell for a workout. The head coach has given several reasons why he pulled McNabb from the game. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said McNabb was suffering from a hamstring injury and could be pulled from the game at any time. “The cardiovascular endurance that it takes to run a two-minute, going all the way down with no timeouts, calling plays, it’s…

As we enter week 9 of the NFL season, it is time to take a look at who has delivered on the gridiron this year. Of course we have the usual suspects, but with the season being so unusual it made way for fresh faces. I would have bet appendages that the Chiefs and Buccaneers wouldn’t have records of 5-2. Denver was supposedly the team that got shorted in the Jay Cutler trade, but they got someone who looks like the Uni-bomber and has been blowing up defense all season. These are just a few of the changes we will…

Round two of Randy Moss in Minnesota is finished after only a month with the team. He was waived by the Vikings on Monday for criticizing head coach Brad Childress the day prior, following the 28-18 loss to the Patriots. The Vikings traded for Moss on October 6th, sending a third-round pick to New England. Moss caught only one pass for eight yards in his return trip to Foxboro. In the four games since the acquisition, Moss had 13 receptions for 174-yards. In the post-game press conference, Moss expressed his frustration with how the Vikings attacked the Patriots defense. He…

As MMA quickly replaces the popularity of other action sports, many former boxers and wrestlers are making the transition with their viewers.  While fans favor the reality of MMA, wrestlers historically hold their own in the cage. For many current and former wrestling fans, MMA affords them the opportunity to watch how their favorite wrestlers fare in real fights, creating a unique brand of crossover viewer.  While Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have long been hailed and the kings of crossover, there are some lesser recognized transitions and a few highly publicized upcoming opportunities to see more wrestlers and divas…

Long distance relationships seem impossible, but for generations people have at one point or another experienced them. Wives of soldiers have held down the fort while their loved one fought overseas. Today it isn’t uncommon for a husband from another country to establish himself in the United States and later on send for his wife and family. Some high school sweethearts attend separate colleges and make it work until they graduate and then get married. In 2005, a survey conducted by The Center for the Study of Long Distance Relationships estimated that 2.9% of US marriages are long distance. Although…

Declan Sullivan, a Notre Dame student who taped practices and games, was killed this week when the hydraulic boom he was taping from was blown over by 50 mph+ wind gusts. Today, it’s come out that Brian Kelly elected to have practice outside even though winds were gusting to 50 mph in the area. Can someone explain to me how that even makes a little bit of sense? Then, Kelly said: “You have to be able to look at the weather conditions and find out whether you believe it’s going to be a productive day, first. We believed it to…

Has the National Football League’s emphasis on eliminating blows to the head and players that are deemed “dirty” made the game that Americans love to watch soft? If you listen to Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison, the answer is a resounding “yes!” Harrison, who was fined $75,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi in a game played on October 17, 2010, complained to Showtime’s Inside the NFL that the monetary fine and new tight rulings by the NFL’s front office have changed the way he plays the game. “That was my least productive game…

Dr. Rolf believed that there was more to health than the limitations of her…

Yes, Cam Newton is the best player in college football, right this very second. Remember who the “Heisman winner du jour” was a few weeks ago? Denard Robinson (a.k.a. Shoelace). Unfortunately, Cam Newton is getting more play than Robinson did in the Heisman landscape. Bo Jackson and Mark Ingram have already come out and said they’d vote for him, and this probably going to start a landslide of vote-decision-making. It’s pretty easy for the media to buy into a guy, and with the south region already in Newton’s hip pocket, he’s pretty much a shoe-in. I don’t think anybody is…
