A recent study revealed that elite female athletes, disproportionately, come from smaller towns & cities. The study took a look at the birthplaces of all American-born female athletes playing in the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA). The results of the study were published in the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport.
