The most difficult cleanse for newbies is the juice fast.  It requires a great deal of preparation and produce, as well as specialized equipment.  Juicers are an investment, and you want to be sure that you’re getting the most for your money within your price range. It doesn’t help that on Amazon.com, all three juicers I’ll review today have the exact same rating of four out of five stars.  Given that they’re all so different, they couldn’t be equally effective in all areas! However, juice fasting is the best way to give your digestive system a chance to heal and…

Hopefully not overshadowed by the NBA playoffs, baseball and the NFL draft, Bellator is having their 3rd event tonight starting at 8 pm live on FSN around the US.  The stars did not align tonight for me, so I won’t be able to view the event live.  I’ll most likely have to wait until the Cincinnati Reds game is over.  So, technically, this blog won’t be live but I’ll do my best once the show gets rolling and I do plan on participating in the post-fight press conference afterwards.  Stick with this post throughout the night as I’ll be updating…

Ok, well I’m sure most people affiliated with mixed martial arts already know about what happened last Saturday night.  Strikeforce: Nashville took place and it ended up being a ratings disaster.  More than that, it left a black eye on the entire sport of MMA when the event was over and Jason Miller was beat down live on national television.  Now Strikeforce is not entirely to blame, there were a lot of problems leading up to the event that factored in.  I decided to comprise a list of them all. The event was not casual fan friendly – Most people…

Kevin Durant is giving me fits. Sure, he just lost to the Lakers in Game 1 of their 1st Round Series. And yes, they really don’t have a chance against the Lakers, but this kid is for real. Not only did Durant win the scoring title at age 21, but he’s clearly the #2 MVP. He’s living in Utopia in — of all places — Oklahoma City. He should be in Seattle, but something amazing is happening in OKC. Meanwhile, LeBron is living a lie in Cleveland. He doesn’t seem like he wants to be there. He’s taken control of…

After week two of the major league baseball season, pitchers are starting to find their stride and hitters are dialing in at the plate. I’m happy to say that the Washington Nationals are 6–6 two weeks into the season and still haven’t called up rookie phenom Stephen Strasburg. Health care reform seems to be the only thing making more headlines than the Nats in D.C. Another uplifting sign from the past week was the Houston Astros winning their first series of the season. They beat the Chicago Cubs this past weekend — the first of many signs for Cubs fans…

Scoring a seed in the NBA’s Western Conference playoff bracket is a testament to the greatness of the season. The amount of talent in this years conference play may be the ultimate compliment. The level of play in all four first round match ups is higher than “Snoop Dogg” at a “Bob Marley” festival. Last time it was this competitive was in 2007. In the ’07 Western Conference playoffs, the Golden State Warriors, as the No. 8 seed, upset the Dallas Mavericks, the No. 1 seed — the first time ever in a seven-game series this feat was accomplished. Although…

Today we live with the reality of “coach speak” and “GM speak”.  Every “higher up” in the NFL tells us one thing whilst we are charged with deciphering its true meaning. In this space I have taken to speculating on “Conversations That Never Happened”.  Now I want to concentrate on reading the minds of the NFL’s elite.  We get to talk about the juicy stuff now! The Bills say Marshawn Lynch isn’t going anywhere despite rumors he’s on the trading block.  Brandon Marshall just got traded to the Dolphins and received a $48.5 million extension. Does that mean the Broncos…

If you were watching Strikeforce: Nashville last night on CBS, you got to see 4 fights.  Three of them were title fights and one of them was a gang style beatdown of Jason “Mayhem” Miller by the Cesar Gracie camp after Miller intruded in Jake Shields’ post fight interview asking for a rematch. Shields shoved Miller, and then Nate Diaz, Nick Diaz and Gilbert Melendez jumped him and started throwing punches and kicks as Strikeforce officials desperately tried to break it up…..on national television.  While some may have found it entertaining (I drunkenly cheered when it happened).  Now that I’m…

Tonight the second season of Bellator took place live in the Chicago Theater.  There were a few last minute changes, but everyone made weight and all the new fights went on as scheduled.  Thankfully there were no baseball games on FSN this time so I got to watch the event live.  It was a very entertaining night of fights, albeit it did come with a little controversy. The first broadcasted fight of the night was a lightweight bout between Mike Ricci and Patrick Curran.  Ricci had a ton of hype coming in based on his undefeated record and more importantly,…

Baseball is a game of contradictions.  On one hand, we have games that have no time limit.  They are supposed to be the epitome of our national “pastime”–a game that is leisurely and fun. On the other hand, we have Major League Baseball trying everything it can to make the game–and its equipment–interesting.  In the past, the closest thing baseball has had to direct-marketing was chewing tobacco. Nowadays we have teams pimping the idea of a “boutique bat” in the hopes of getting fans more interested.  However, the games are so long that the fans will hardly come to the stadium to…
