An interesting thing is happening in the Western Conference playoffs.  The San Antonio Spurs–excuse me, the old-decrepit-on-their-last-leg Spurs–downed the Dallas Mavericks like it was no big deal. How can a relatively young team like the Mavs lose to a team stuck in middle age?  Everyone had their money on Dallas at the beginning of this season and now that money is being wasted. We could go back to the 2006 NBA Finals.  The Mavs lost that series to the Heat after being up 2-0 and leading in the 4th Quarter of Game 3.  However, I don’t think that’s the problem. The…

The NFL is crazy. One day you’re in and the next day you’re out. In the past few days Jason Campbell, Colt McCoy, Taylor Mays and Brady Quinn have found themselves on both sides of this equation. At its core, much of the NFL offseason looks downright cruel. Trusted veterans who have poured their whole careers into a team–cut. High draft picks with promise–traded. Some of these moves are selfish, some are warranted, others are just plain heartless. This soap opera is in full-effect this offseason with the moves concerning Campbell, McCoy, Mays and Quinn. Some moves are good and…

The Jacksonville Jaguars have David Garrard, Maurice Jones-Drew and a young Offensive Line. They also have disgruntled fans and an unrealistically stringent owner. Back in January, Jaguars Owner Wayne Weaver said he wanted Garrard to be more like Peyton Manning. He’s quoted as saying: “I tell a story about Peyton Manning when [Indianapolis] drafted Pierre Garcon and Peyton Manning drove three hours twice a week because this kid couldn’t come to the OTAs and train because of his graduating class,” Weaver recently told the media. “He drove three hours twice a week to throw to this kid, to teach him…

Most people only wish they could move back into the womb, but that is what just happened to SteroidsLive. Hold on tight, now the real fun begins. It’s still going to be a few months before you start seeing the really big changes (and “mum”s the word), but in the mean time you can expect plenty of previews and whispers about all that we have in store for you. The Oakland Raiders drafting QB (Quarterback) JaMarcus Russell with the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft will be remembered as one of the worst picks in NFL history. It’s like seeing your parents having sex–you want to forget it, but you just can’t. To say that Russell has been a bust would be generous. But, to say that he is the only reason they have sucked over last three seasons would be unfair.  They do have a head coach in Tom Cable who punches coaches and allegedly beats women (what a winner); Russell should however shoulder a large…

As the temperatures heat up across the nation, so do some of the players and teams of Major League Baseball. On the other hand, it doesn’t matter how hot it gets, some things just won’t change. Some of the biggest surprises thus far are the sustained play of teams predicted to finish in the bottom of their respected divisions. Also, one of the games greatest players had an awful week by his standards. The Baltimore Orioles look like the “Bad News Bears.” The big difference is that they don’t have Billy Bob Thornton to binge drink and make it funny. …

Mixed martial (MMA) arts is the official title of the popular style of fighting that is used throughout many of the cage fighting companies. MMA is a combination of traditional fighting styles such as kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Kickboxing, boxing, and wrestling all have weight classes that prevent certain body types from competing against one another, but Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu allows even the smallest individual to become more than a competitive match for their opponent. Throughout MMA gyms across the United States there are woman training side by side with men. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not a “boys” sport; it’s…

An important first step has been taken: HGH testing is coming to the minor leagues. Over the past decade, the minor leagues have been the place where Commissioner Bud Selig has introduced new steps against the use of performance-enhancing drugs. The majority of minor leaguers are not members of the players union, which has allowed Selig to take drug-testing measures without the union’s consent. For instance, testing for steroids was initiated on the minor league level before the union later agreed to its use in the majors. Selig plans to use the same blueprint with H.G.H., with a second baseball…
