After a short but troubled career, ex-Raider JaMarcus Russell just can’t seem to catch a break. He was arrested today for possession of a controlled substance, in this case codeine syrup. He did not have a prescription for the opiate. Police did not say what led to Russell’s arrest, but it appears to be linked to an undercover investigation. He was released on $2500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 20. A bond hearing was set for Wednesday, July 7. Jamarcus was the number 1 draft pick in the 2007 NFL draft, collecting $36.4 million dollars…
Besides being flat out delicious, cayenne pepper has a whole host of health benefits that are worth knowing about. Now, I know that you probably only think of cayenne as being good for bringing the heat to your favorite dishes, and that’s definitely the thing that makes it worth trying. The thing that will keep you coming back is the ability to protect your heart, enhance your immune and digestive systems, relieve headaches and heal fungal infections. There’s some evidence that it can kill prostate cancer, too. According to Dr. Joe Mercola, “The active ingredient in cayenne pepper, called capsaicin,…
I know, I know, you’re a bodybuilder. You don’t want to hear about doing cardio. But here’s the thing: if you want to get really cut, you’ve got to get really lean. Along with diet, cardio is the way to get to your ideal physique. I’ve been in the “I hate cardio” camp before, and it was easy to justify because I was doing two 2-day splits in the weight room. What I hadn’t taken into consideration was that, even though I looked pretty hot, I was a little puffy still. Even more than that, I realized that I had…
Have you ever finished having sex with your partner and felt a burn? Make no mistake, I am talking about the burn in your muscles not in your genitals. If certain sexual positions are done correctly you can receive the benefits of an actual workout. “Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.” This quote on exercise was given to us by the Greek philosopher Plato. I doubt he was referring to sex with this bit of common sense that has been passed along the ages,…
I know my posts have been getting farther and farther apart, this is attributed to my crusade against scammers and helping those who ask. I have gotten so many requests , it almost wipes out all of my free time. By no means am I complaining , I am explaining . I have not forsaken all my readers, just the opposite, I am attempting to protect as many as possible. I looked into all the Uncle Z claims, almost done with that, until then I would stay clear. I know he has served the community for many years, but safe…
The 2010 World Cup is looking to have more disasters than successes. We’ll ignore the fact that no one but Brazil and Argentina can score because there are some teams who are a mess. It’s been reported that Japan’s squad has a “locker room leak,” but the reports haven’t gone past that. In every locker room there’s somebody who talks to the press too much. However, France has these problems and so much more. In case you didn’t know, France qualified for the World Cup by cheating against Ireland in their final qualifying match. They scored a goal with the…
Men are salivating and women are envious of the body that Scarlett Johansson burned up the big screen with in Iron Man II. For women dying to know her secret, you must know that this was no easy feat for the 25-year-old bombshell. In a article on MSN’s Health and Fitness section, personal trainer Bobby Storm lets us in on Johansson’s true feelings about her current exercising regimen. “The first day she freaked out because it was really hard, but by the end of the five months she had totally changed her lifestyle.” I’m sure it had something to do…
Last week we began looking at eating for your blood type, based on Dr. Peter D’Adamo‘s book, Eat Right 4 Your Type. His research offers diet plans for each of the four blood types: A, B, AB, and O. This week it’s your turn Type Bs! In the previous article, we looked at how Type As should eat to maintain optimum health, and now we’re looking at a very different nutritional picture with Blood Type B. The entire theory of eating for your blood type hinges on the way each blood type is said to process lectins. Lectins are a…
Recently, a female friend and I discussed the things guys like to read about. She wisely said, “MMA.” I answered, “Fighting, all kinds of fighting.” She laughed, so here we are with a workout to get you in “fighting shape.” MMA is the biggest fighting circuit in the world. It’s outpacing boxing with every step, and the dudes who fight on this circuit are big. Some of them aren’t cut necessarily — they’re just big, hulking monsters. There’s no way to get around the thought of, “If I got in there I would die.” At least boxing looks attainable. MMA…
It’s here, the official start of summer! While most of us have been living it up since Memorial Day, grilling out and packing in the watermelon and corn on the cob, gardens are bursting with fresh produce begging to be eaten. The fruits and vegetables in today’s issue are packed with nutrition and flavor, and they’re some of the best bets for fresh summer dining. I’ve got the best ways to incorporate them into your diet, and you know I wouldn’t leave you without some tasty recipes. Tomatoes By now we’ve probably all heard about lycopene, the antioxidant in tomatoes…
