UFC 98 Payouts – Winners Don’t Always Make the Most Money

Even though former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans lost his belt to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98, he still left with more money in his pocket. $200K to be exact compared to Machida’s $140K (that’s including the $70K win bonus.) Not a bad way to lose, if you ask me. Had Evans won, he would’ve made an additional $175K.

Another top earner of the evening was Matt Hughes, matching Evans’ $200K, that’s including his $100K win bonus. While his defeated opponent, Serra left with $75K compensation.

The other combatants’ earnings can be seen here:

-Drew McFedries: $34,000 ($17,000 win bonus)

-Xavier Foupa-Pokam: $6,000

-Chael Sonnen: $50,000 ($25,000 win bonus)
