I am a HUGE sport enthusiast , and it sometimes can be scary for the people around me. So I decided today I was going to go off topic and vent about this last year in sports for me…… I will take it team by team, and please feel free to comment your views on my teams or even something you want to vent about your team. Sometimes it needs to be said. My sports teams I follow are , in no particular order, Boston Red Sox , Boston Celtics, Chicago Bears, College B-Ball UConn, College Football U of Miami,…

The guys who compete in strongman contests aren’t your average Joe. If you read my piece on the events in strength athletics, you know that you couldn’t just pull a guy off of the street to compete (unless of course he wanted to have a stroke that day). The top five finishers this year put on a great show. There was a pretty big battle for first and second, and for third and fourth places. This year, Zydrunas Savickas won. He edged out Mariusz Pudzianwoski, and I’m not sure any of us saw that coming. Sure Pudz has been battling…

I always liked Greg Gumbel better than his brother Bryant, but Bryant kept it a little too “real” the other day on his show. After Mark McGwire came out and admitted that he used steroids during the 90′s everyone started taking shots at “Big Mac”.  It didn’t get any better when Bryant Gumbel took his “cannon” of a mouth and opened it the other day. The Accusation On Gumbel’s show Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel he read an “open letter” to Mark McGwire.  The letter basically said “I don’t care that you did it and we’re over it.” However, he…

All of the major networks seem to be over covering the remaining four teams in the NFL Playoffs. So much so to the point that they have already started doing Super Bowl coverage and we don’t even know who the teams are yet. I will however give you my projected winners for this weekends action, Colts and Saints will emerge victorious. You can read in depth coverage on the Championship Games happening this weekend from General Patton on SteroidsLive.com. How about the other 28 teams in the NFL, lets speculate, predict, and overly judge some of those teams who will…

It’s coming. The big one. The one we’ve all been waiting for. This summer, 32 of the best national teams are headed to host country South Africa to compete for soccer‘s most prized trophy – the World Cup. This time round it’s the 19th series, and the competition is looking more fierce than ever. There are the repeat qualifiers in as usual – Brazil, Germany, Spain, Argentina (and the more powerful than ever, Spain), but along side them are the up-and-comers, like Greece, and also, the USA, all capable of surprising the soccer world. As usual, in addition to these…

I am happy to inform you that trends in video games are changing. I am seeing more active participation and less individualization. I am speaking of video games like Wii from Nintendo. I see players moving about and interacting with other players while they play a Wii game of tennis, bowling, baseball or racquetball. Moms Like Wii USA Network reports that the Wii is a hit with moms because of the motion controls. It’s a no brainer. It’s important to get kids active, which is not a new idea. Arcades were at a slow death ten years ago, but recently came back to life with Dance Dance Revolution.…

The AFC and NFC championship games have become nearly as big as the Super Bowl. I’ll bet that’s why I am SO torn over who to pick in these games. My boss told me to “Go with the stronger team”, and threw a little emoticon on the end of that one because everyone knows this is tough. The Colts, Jets, Saints and Vikings ALL have major strengths and weaknesses. It’s my job to decide which ones will “leave a mark” on Sunday. I’m going to make the picks one at a time and need everyone to bear with me as…

Brock is back and it’s awesome.  Hate or Love him(gotta admit I love him), the guy is fun to watch.  Frank Mir’s new found obsession with beating Brock, makes him more compelling than ever and I can almost find myself rooting for him in the rubber match. This article I want to touch upon the 5 top figures I’d like to see step inside an MMA ring. 5- Kurt Angle Angle flirted with MMA for almost three years and never took the leap of faith.  Jay Larkin the former COO and VP of the defunct IFL, offered Angle a back…

Mark McGwire will no longer discuss his use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone in baseball, so says a spokesperson for the St. Louis Cardinals, according to www.sportingnews.com. And I say, Thank God. In my 50 years as a Missourian, I cannot recall a public persona capable of tainting this state like McGwire has since 1998. St. Louis is laughingstock once more over McGwire, after he returned from years’ seclusion in California, hiding his doping secrets, only to receive an orchestrated standing ovation from loyal Cardinals fans at a benefit gala last Sunday. In so-called self-admissions since January 11, McGwire…
