Yes, I had talked a little trash about the main event fight between Randy Couture and Mark Coleman, but in all honesty, I was pretty excited for the rest of the main card.  Nate Marquardt and Chael Sonnen were duking it out for middleweight number 1 contender status, Paulo Thiago and Mike Swick were trying to get back in the mix at welterweight, and both Demian Maia and Matt Serra were trying to become relevant again in their respective divisions after setback losses in their last fights. The event kickstarted with a matchup between former welterweight champ Matt “The Terra”…

Discovering new ways to boost my health is sometimes an adventure, especially when I try new foods. Recently, I took a look at adding Japanese staples to my diet. I found that Asian food is tasty, unique, healthy and kind of fun to eat. Nori Nori is traditionally dark green sheets. But can be found brown or red. It is also referred to as seaweed. Nori has been a common food in Japan and China for centuries. It used to be called norinorinori. A friend of my daughter’s loves to eat nori plain. She considers it a great snack and munchies…

The Super Bowl is this Sunday. The two best teams in the league are facing off. The two best offenses in the league are squaring up. The most maligned defenses in the league have something to prove, and I have a pick to make. I love listening to sports radio during major events like the Super Bowl. Why? Because every player in the sport walks up and down “Radio Row” giving really good interviews. I heard one interview in particular that confirmed my pick, and gave me the insight I needed to make my line of thinking stick. It comes…

I picked up an Energy Times the other day and glanced at an article called “Eating to Heal” by Linda Melone. The article sparked my interest because my left knee and hamstring are bothering me. My knee has a dull ache and my hamstring feels strained from kickboxing. My chiropractic treatments are helping. But I need something more to help my leg to heal faster. That’s why I picked up this article. I read that it takes only minutes after an injury for your body to react. An injury alerts your body’s immune system to send white blood cells to…

On Feb 1st 2010, Kobe Bryant scored a very fitting 44 points (West’s jersey number) to past Jerry West and become the Lakers all-time scorer. Bryant has played through many ups and downs as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Granted the downs aren’t as bad as the woeful Clippers team that shares the Staples Center, but then again the only thing lower than them is the economy, post Bush Administration. Bryant, also known as the ” Black Mamba” is right next to Lebron James for top players the NBA has to offer. Bryant’s recent achievement has raised many…

January has ended, and it’s likely that your enthusiasm for your New Year’s Resolutions has waned with each passing day. I know how it is, you start off all enthusiastic, but by day ten (or even by day two), you’re over it. Well, get over being over it! Did you want what you wanted then, or were you just talking smack? You threw around words like “life change”, “more exercise“, and “best shape of my life”. How is that looking in your life right now? If you’re like 90+% of Americans, you’ve already blown it. The only time you think…

Former pro wrestler Dwayne Johnson currently stars in the movie The Tooth Fairy.  Yes, he plays a Tooth Fairy in the movie. Prior to the Tooth Fairy role, he starred in the movie Return to Witch Mountain. I thought he was great in Witch Mountain as a taxi cab driver who helps two teenage aliens save the world. Tooth Fairy seems a little hard for me to swallow. I haven’t seen it yet and the reviews are moderate. Check out this video of Dwayne Johnson becoming an honorary player for the L.A. Kings hockey team. You will also see some footage from his movie…

Spring Training is almost upon us, and I think it’s time to predict who will rise and who will fall in the National League. 2010 promises to be a loaded season with teams reloading, wallowing, and retooling. Major League Baseball’s season is VERY long and VERY complicated. Plus, it offers us a glimpse into the character of players as they struggle to complete a 162-game schedule. Who will lose? Who will win? Who will show us their true character? Let’s take a stab at this: National League East The Phillies are the obvious favorite in this division with their acquisition…

Groups B & C are looking fairly one-sided at a glance – Argentina looks set to dominate Group B, whilst England is prepared to annihilate all competition in Group C. Despite this, nothing is set in stone, and there is still everything to play for. Group B Argentina Current World Ranking: 8 You can’t deny that Argentina’s team is looking particularly powerful – with 2009 Ballor d’Or winner Lionel Messi attacking, alongside Atletico Madrid‘s Sergio Aguero and Angel di Maria of Benfica. Historically, Argentina have been very big players in the world cup – twice they were winners of the…

I’m an unabashed fan of Pilates. After my third child was born, I decided to get serious about losing weight. When I joined the gym, I was terrified of group exercise classes. When I passed by those six glass doors and saw people dancing (which I didn’t do), taking step aerobics (which I was scared to do), or lifting weights (which I was too weak to do), I wanted to turn and run. Too bad I was too out of shape to run. Sigh. It was a bad scene. The only thing I had the guts to do was try…
