Its time to start warming up our voices so we can sing “Take me out to the ball game” during the 7th inning stretch. On Sunday, April 4th the Major League Baseball season will get underway when the New York Yankees visit the Boston Red Sox’s. The following day we are slated for tons of great action throughout the league. One of the truly great pastime experiences in America is opening day at the ball park. Peanuts, crackerjacks, hotdogs, and even a fermented beverage if you’re of age only increases the delightfulness of the experience. What are some of the…

Well UFC 111 has come and gone, and all that’s left are the repercussions.  I thought it was a solid night of fights, as always and here are some of the things that have stayed in my thoughts a couple days afterwards. Frank Mir was too overconfident – Needless to say, when your entrance music is “I’m Amazing” by Kanye West, you’d better put on a hell of a show.  Frank Mir did not, it wasn’t even close.  Apparently,  he thought the muscle he’d put on recently would completely nullify the advantage that a fighter like Lesnar or Carwin had…

Selecting an MVP is not an exact science, so there is no guarantee that you’ll make the right pick. Two of the most common ways to make your pick is to select the best player, or subtract the player who is not necessarily the most skilled but most vital to the teams success. For the first time in NBA history the league is opening up the voting to the fans. They can rank their favorites from 1 – 5, the fan ballots will average out and count for one vote. The remaining 124 votes will come from a panel of…

I’ve never been one for mock drafts and I’m not about to start now. I did mention a few “needs” that teams had a few weeks back, but now we’re getting into new territory. With all the upheaval that comes with the offseason everyone starts looking for the “new thing”. To quote my favorite band, Fuel, “It’s the new thing I desire, not the old thing, but it’s for me”. Essentially, that’s code for, “I’ll take anybody with a pulse if I think they’re worth a win or a big play”. They’ll sleep on a cot in their office so…

Do you have tight hip flexors?  I’ve mentioned before that this is something that I struggle with from years of overuse and improper stretching. In the last two years, my hip flexors (iliopsoas) have bothered me to the degree that I am no longer able to cycle, kickbox, or do heavy squats at all, and can only run and dance a couple of times per week. Even with months of rest and attempted rehab, my hip flexors are tender when sitting and driving for long periods. What’s The Problem? For people who engage in repetitive motion exercises such as running…

I wanted to write this and since I am waiting on a good friend of Deadweight’s , who is willing to tell all the crappy things he has done as a MOD, I figured this would be a good time to rant about morals. I realize everyone make mistakes , but without taking responsibility for it , you are just self-righteous. Over the last few months I have dealt with several people like this. The problem is , these people have decent followings to enable them, they stand behind them even after they are proved wrong. Why does this happen? Why not…

It happens to everyone at some point.  You have an injury.  You become pregnant.  Your body rebels.  You hit the wall.  Whatever it is, there’s an “it” for everyone. I know quite a few people who were into health and fitness at one point; running marathons, playing competitive tennis, lifting weights, and then something happened.  Their worst-case scenario happened, and they quit. Change Up or Chicken Out? What makes the difference between someone who packs it in and gets flabby and complacent versus someone who finds something new? Two things, I think.  First, having a vision.  For me, this is…

The NFL may be the most successful of all the professional leagues in America, but it definitely does not have the smartest employees. Everyone has to fail sometime, but some organizations do it with such regularity I can’t help but watch and laugh. The great thing about bad teams in the NFL, is that every time they have a chance to capitalize from their negativity they only add to the disaster they already created. The St. Louis Rams could take some real strides in this year’s draft, but there may be to much weight on their shoulders. What can they…

Butler–Duke–West Virginia–Michigan State. We’ve got a Final Four that pretty much anyone can get behind. I love having basketball to watch where I don’t care who wins. I love watching games that will have a happy ending for me either way. Even if your team lost on the way to the Final Four it’s hard to deny that each of these teams would be a great National Champion. These aren’t the “We Carried Roy Williams” Tar Heels or the “We Like Being Completely Unlikable” Huskies of UCONN. This is the “We Can’t Believe We’re Here AND At Home” Butler Bulldogs. …
