I’m not sure how applicable this is to you, but I’m starting everybody off by asking about their Brian Pillman memories and what motivated them to come out here tonight to help lend support to his family…. Vampiro: I never even met him, but I will say that I’m very well aware of who he is and what he’s done in wrestling. I’m very proud to be here helping out. This is for his children, and I know Brian’s up there looking down, and I hope he’s happy knowing that his kids are gonna be OK. The talk on the…

What’s been your experience with Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo so far? I worked for Bischoff for three years. Mike Awesome I don’t think is the career killer. I think it’s Bischoff. Quite honestly, what did he do for my career? He obviously liked me enough to put me on all the Nitros when I wasn’t making any money, working every Monday. They didn’t want to give me a contract the first year. I was under a verbal, yet they wanted to have me on Monday, making their stars look good. And then, all of a sudden, they throw this…

Rick Scaia: Alright, since you mentioned it, you go way back with Brian [Pillman], back to your early 90’s WCW days, do you….. Raven: [Interrupting] Me and Pillman were really good friends. To be honest with you, I would have loved to have done this show, but I was never asked to, and it seemed like I was always tied up with something else, anyway, so I never really got to do it. So I’m really glad they put me on. But it was really odd, cuz no one really told me I was doing it. I found out third…

So I’m sitting at the edge of the pool in the apartment complex. That’s the good news. The problem is I’m in Phoenix, Arizona and the temperature is already 114 degrees Fahrenheit. Talk about the Three degrees being hot! The Jacuzzi is out of the question and I’m not likely to see a soccer match around here any time soon. But of course I’m thinking soccer and I owe my loyal readers a column. So naturally I’m pleased when my cell phone announces that Glenn Hoddle is calling and wants to know my take on the upcoming European Championships. Now I…

Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat — probably my very first favorite wrestler back as I started watching in the mid-80s — was just returning from speaking in the ring at the Pillman 2000 show when I managed to divert his attention long enough to secure an interview. Although he had other immediate commitments with the event organizers and other media, Steamboat proved himself to be a gentleman in addition to his pre-existing status as an undisputed legend by granting me over 20 minutes of his time. Below you’ll find the highlights of a conversation that spanned Steamboat’s favorite memories of the…

Tempestuous. That’s how the psychiatrist described me on his way to a diagnosis of dysthymic disorder. Tempestuous, he said I am, and in a depressed mood nearly every day, tearful, without interest or pleasure in life, and feeling hopeless. That pronouncement was made six hours before the New Jersey Devils eliminated the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. He should have seen me then. Anyway, I have two choices now. I can either take the prescribed Venlafaxine Hydrochloride, a bicyclic antidepressant that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, norepinphrine, and dopamine (whatever that means). Or, I can…

I’ll sum up my trip to the WCW television tapings earlier this week by saying I had a great time. For both shows the crowd came across much better live. The wrestling was of course lacking, but overall it was a positive experience, and I’m looking forward to making a similar trip in July. Prior to the Thunder tapings I had a chance to meet a very gracious man and his daughter who is equally as nice, and as soft spoken. I’m talking about Terry and Brandi Funk. I had a nice conversation with Funk and when it turned wrestling…

Research scientists at The Institute for Hockey Affairs are studying the apparent inverse relationship between any given NHL team’s chances of playoff success and the number of Russians, Swedes, Finns, Latvians, Czechs, Danes, Germans, Morrocans, and Belgians on its roster. “There is a belief that Euros, most of whom never heard of the Stanley Cup until they got off the boat, just do not want to win it as much as the Canadians and Americans do,” said Dr. Freddy Shero IV, director of the Institute. “Sure, Euros skate pretty. They pass like laser beams, they prance around, run nifty weaves…

BackLash held many surprises for WWF fans. The return of Debra McMichael started out the evening as she was the special guest ring announcer for Edge and Christian versus Road Dogg and XPac. That could not compare to what happened later that evening. The announcement of Vince McMahon before the main event that Stone Cold Steve Austin would not be in attendance was another crowd shocker. Linda McMahon stunned her husband when she had reinstated Earl Hebner, not to mention the sudden and unexpected return of Stone Cold, despite Vince’s previous announcement. This all led to one conclusion, The Rock…

Maybe he was trying to stay in character. Maybe he was having a bad day. Or maybe he just didn’t like me. Who knows, but it took some serious arm-twisting to get some answers out of ECW world television champion Rhino. Then again, when you’re 6’3,” 285 lbs. and you win one of the most prestigious titles in the U.S. while essentially a rookie, your actions tend to speak louder than words. Rhino is a dominating force in ECW. He is backed by Steve Corino, Jack Victory and Cyrus (collectively known as The Network), but most people agree he’d be…
