Anthony Duong is a freelance writer based in London, UK. He coaches youth soccer and teaches physical education. ——- Many of you probably didn’t even know there were different types of protein. But there are, and it’s important for you to know the pros and cons of each one, because it can have drastic effects on your gains. To begin, I’m going to say that protein is the single most important nutrient if you lift weights. Carbs, fats and everything else, if you accidentally miss out on these for a day or two, the effects will be negative, but not…

Fruits and vegetables should be eaten as part of a healthy diet, but did you know that there are certain ‘Superfoods’ that have even greater health benefits. The average person should eat around 5-10 portions of fruits and vegetables a day. A couple of handfuls of strawberries, as an example, is a portion. A glass of orange juice counts as a portion. If you add a pepper, onion, broccoli, and mushrooms to a risotto, that is four of your fruits and vegetables already. They are low in calories and very high in antioxidants, which help to strengthen the body’s immune…

I’m 12-3 and now I need to keep the roll going.  At this point I’m convinced that I have just about everybody in the league pegged except for the 49ers and the Cardinals (yes, that whole game jacked me up last week.) I have some “deep thoughts” about a few of these, but bear with me, I promise there’s a point. Sunday September 20, 2009 Houston @ Tennessee  1 P.M. Houston is…well….not very good.  Tennessee is….well….better.  With Dunta Robinson getting fined for imploring his owner to pay him on the back of his shoe (yes, he’s THAT stupid) and Matt…

Since Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has taken a role in the new Hollywood adaptation of “The A-Team”, the coach vs coach finale of TUF 10 must be pushed back. In the meantime, this leaves former Light Heavyweight champ Rashad Evans without a fight. Rashad has a solution for this problem however, calling out Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. From MMALive: “I think it’s a great idea. As a matter of fact, Joe Silva call me. Put the fight together, I’m ready for it. You know my mom probably gonna say, ‘Rashad, I told you stop calling out Anderson Silva. Rashad ,he made…

Well, the UFC has decided to give us quite a show for their “filler” card.  There won’t be any championship bouts, but a lot of important fights here will decide future title shots. The main event between former middleweight champ Rich “Ace” Franklin (25-4) and returning former light heavyweight champ Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort (18-8)in a catchweight bout at 195 pounds.  Franklin has been all over the place lately, fighting at 185 for the middleweight title, at 205 against Matt Hammil and at 195 against Wanderlei Silva, which cost Silva a title shot.  Franklin looks to play spoiler yet again…

Notre Dame better huddle up and figure out how to NOT screw this one up! College Football is upon us and now some schedules are getting meaty. (I know, I know, I missed a week, but I just started writing last Sunday! Geez, give a brother a break! ;o) I’m going to make sure that I cover as many big games as I can, but I also don’t want to write a 4000 word column when some of you really only want to know about a few schools. Don’t worry, I won’t leave out the smaller schools or conferences, but…

It’s me again for the second week in a row.  This week I’ll talk about The Ultimate Fighter Premiere, Fight Night, the newly announced Brett Rogers vs Fedor fight on CBS, and whatever else jumps in my head (not in that particular order)….now on to the show. As soon as Fight Night:19 ended, the real reason people tuned into Spike, began.  The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights (featuring Kimbo) pulled in over 4 million viewers and promises to be one of the most talked about seasons ever.  Of course the talk will most likely revolve around Kimbo and how he’ll fair on…

After an excellent UFC Fight Night on Wednesday, we’re already being treated to a big time UFC event. UFC 103 takes place in Dallas, Texas, and here’s a look at the fights you may not get to see. Thankfully, UFC is showing two undercard fights for free on Spike before the main event. Fans will get a chance to see Ultimate Fighter season 8 winner Efrain Escudero (11-0) take on Ultimate Fighter season 5 contestant Cole Miller (15-3) in an exciting lightweight matchup. I look for Escudero to use his wrestling advantage to wear down Miller, who is a Brazillian…

I was listening to Super Human Radio today and heard about a Bill that is attempting to be passed, and I don’t like the sound of it. More Rights taken away from U.S. Citizens , so Carl Lanore of Super Human Radio has written the following, please read: As you may know the US government is trying to pass a law, HR2749 and S510, which is about imposing totalitarian control on the food supply (such as mandating GMO-food) and restricting anything natural or healthy, such as access to supplements or even any natural food. Our health and very lives and…

After lifting one day I felt an ache in my shoulder, it was an unusual. So much more so when I bring up the fact I hadn’t done shoulders since last week. So I rested for a few days, not one of my favorite things to do but I did. Especially now when I am that much closer to putting up the big 500 on bench ( but maybe that is one of my issues also ).  So I gave in and saw my Dr and he stated it sounded like a bone spur, but to be safe he did…
