Tapout Co-Founder Charles Lewis a.k.a. “Mask” Dies

According to many MMA news websites, Charles Lewis, known as “Mask”, has died in a car accident. Charles Lewis was one of the men behind the Tapout Clothing Company which has seen an enormous success over the past few years.  ”Mask” a TV character played by Charles Lewis was the star of the hit reality TV series, “Tapout” that showed the Tapout team touring the country to support mixed martial arts fighters and promoting their Tapout Brand.  Charles Lewis’s bold marketing tactics helped Tapout grow into a company that is now said to have annual revenues between $50-$100 million dollars a year, selling everything from MMA T-Shirts to bottled water.  

Reports are saying that Lewis’s red Ferrari collided with a Porche early this morning, hit a pole and was split in two.  The driver who he collided with is said to have been under the influence of alcohol and could be facing manslaughter charges.  Here is the full story in the LA Times. 

It is terrible to hear this news.  Mask had become an inspiring figure in MMA and for MMA Business. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by the MMA community.
