Well not quite, but it is by far the biggest and most anticipated fight in women’s MMA history. We all know Carano as the face of women’s MMA. But not only is she a beautiful face, she has the fighting skills to back it up. Santos, better known as Cyborg, is known for her strength and devastating Muay Thai attack. And while I’m sure every MMA fan is looking forward to this August 15th fight, myself included, one has to wonder where women’s MMA goes from there? These are undoubtedly the two biggest names in women’s MMA and they are finally going head-to-head. But are there any other big fights out there in women’s MMA? For right now, I really don’t think so. Carano gets a lot of publicity for her fights, and deservedly so, but can anyone honestly name any of her opponents (without Googling it)? The point is that for women’s MMA to survive, they need more big fights like this, but more importantly they need more stars like Carano and Santos. But for now, women’s MMA fans can rest assured that this will be a fight that lives up to the hype, and hopefully it inspires more women to get out there and try MMA and maybe become the future stars of women’s MMA.
