Ben Weider Passes Away

October 18, Ben Weider suddenly died at the age of 85. He is known as one of the legendary founding fathers of modern bodybuilding together with his brother Joe Weider. Ben Weider was born in Montreal, Canada, on February 1st, 1923. Ben served as a dedicated lifetime president of International Federation of BodyBuilders (IFBB) he co-founded with his brother in 1946.

Despite declining years, Ben had passionately promoted and overseen bodybuilding events until recently. It was he who awarded the winner of 2008 Mr. Olympia contest.

Ben’s death is certainly a great loss not only for his family, but also for all bodybuilding lovers, who are with Weiders family in hours of sorrow and grief.
