Gracilis

gracilis

The gracilis is a hip adductor muscle located to the upper inner thigh region, or in other words, the groin. Gracilis is a Latin name meaning “slender”, which offers an indication of its thin appearance.

The gracilis is responsible for the adduction and transverse adduction of the hip, as well as the flexion of the knee. The muscle can therefore be exercises with the seated and standing hip adduction machines which are found in most gyms. The gracilis will also be developed from leg curling exercises, which involve the flexion of the knee.
