Canseco, Jones , Conte , Whose Truth To Believe?

I have been reading article after article, blog after blog, and i keep hearing a reoccurring theme.  Somehow Jose Canseco and Victor Conte (BALCO) are coming up as more honest then Marion Jones, and some way that makes them more credible.  This idea seems ridiculous to me, yes both (Canseco and Conte)  eventually told the truth but why and for how much is the real question.  It isn’t like Canseco couldn’t take the guilt no longer and came clean about just himself, no he decided if he must take the fall so will all the rest.  He made the decision to come clean for these MLB players that never gave him permission.

Something that I doubt he would have approved of if the tables were turned.  This was a man in debt and knew he could make a buck from tossing his teammates and friends under the bus.  How is their steroid use somehow linked to Canseco’s money woes, to be honest I’m not sure.  This is a man who made millions upon millions throughout his career, and managed to screw that up.  To me, telling the truth isn’t enough to be considered noble, the intent behind the that truth is what makes or breaks a modest action, and Canseco is a degenerate snitch and brought nothing to the people and substance that were behind him while he played Major League Baseball.  Next up is an easy one, Victor Conte is by no means a saint, he made a living selling overpriced steroids to athletes and celebrities.  And suddenly felt the need to set the record straight while in jail.  Was this a message from God to make up for his wrong doings.  Nope it was a message from the cowardice region of his brain trying to come off as a victim of a modern day trend.  The only reasonable thing I heard come out of his mouth was that Marion Jones should keep her medals because the rest of the competitors just didn’t get caught, not that they didn’t juice, themselves.  It is like a Mr. Olympia getting DQ’ed for using steroids, in which they only tested the winner.  If all are using, and there is a fair chance that this is possible, then the playing field was always level, and there is no need to regulate.  The biggest problem I have with Conte and Canseco is they didn’t just take responsibility for themselves and call it a day.  No they felt the need to purge the sins (if you can call them that) of others without any consent of the party they spoke of.  They have the right to explain there own problems, but not have that second grade mentality that if I go down I’m taking all of you with me.  You guys should have been men, and took notes when watching “Goodfellas”, Always tell them nothing and never snitch on your friends!!!  Marion Jones  has yet to bring down a fellow runner to try to save her own butt, and this is why I still respect and admire her.  Maybe if her story doesn’t sound right to some of America, it’s because she didn’t bring a grocery list of mutual violaters to take the heat off herself, no she was more of a man then Canseco, and took the sentence like a champ, reguardless of what she knows.  So Marion Jones may have not told the whole story, but maybe that story wasn’t hers to tell.
