Ufc 98 Results

If you missed UFC 98, you missed one of the coolest UFC’s ever.  Matt Serra and Matt Hughes had a chance to bang out there differences in a 3 round all out war.  At the end, the two actually treated one another with the respect each deserves and seemingly squashed their grudge.  Matt Hughes came out in phenomenal condition and looked like he was in as good of shape as ever. While Matt Serra didn’t look like he was in quite as good of shape, he did remarkably well against Hughes.  In the end, Serra was unable to swing the judges decision in his direction.  Matt Hughes won by unanimous decision.

The Main Event was one of the best fights I have seen.  I was very curious to see how Lyoto Machida was going to do against such and explosive fighter like Rashad Evans.  He did great.  Evans could not break down Machidas evasive defense.  Machida took full advantage of his distance and kick capabilities to land many kicks on Evans.  Eventually  those kicks opened up Evans for a full on assault of punches from Machida.  Ultimately, Machida lands some powerful shots that daze and stun Evans and opens him up for the kill.  Machida, calculated and accurately capitalizes on the opportunity and KO’s Evans.  There was no question who was the better fighter, Machida completely dominated.  I have seen few fighters fight with the type of discipline and technical accuracy as Machida.  He is in my mind one of the few people on the planet that are comparable to Anderson Silva.
