Miami Fired Randy Shannon?

The University of Miami has got to be the stupidest college in America.  I don’t care if it’s a private school.  I don’t care if they have “good programs,” and I certainly don’t care that they used to have Butch Davis, Larry Coker, Dennis Erickson and Jimmy Johnson coaching them.

They don’t now, and that’s their problem.  They think it’s still 1991 and they should be undefeated, etc.  They think they should own the college football landscape.  They think they should be almighty and powerful (and they forget that they lost the national title in 2002 to Ohio State.  I think they secretly pretend they won that game).

Now, they had Randy Shannon who was a nice coach, they had Jacory Harris (a good START to rebuilding the cache they used to have at every position), and a decent season.

Was it perfect? No. However, 7-5 isn’t so bad when you aren’t cheating up a storm anymore. The Hurricanes of old were dirty as a pig.

They had a good guy at the helm and they fired him.  Frankly, it looks like a Ty Willingham situation.  Notre Dame had a good coach and they fired him thinking it would get better. It never did.  The Irish suck and the Hurricanes will probably start sucking too.

Honestly, I don’t care.  I don’t think Miami is entitled to anything (like they think they are) and I hope they never have another winning season.  Yep, I said it.  I hope they can’t even touch .500. That’s what you get when you have the right coach in place and you don’t give a chance.

Frank Beamer has been at Virginia Tech for 24 years.  In that time he’s nearly won a national title, been consistently good, he’s going back to the ACC title game for the fourth time this year, and he’s not perfect.

He’s been 2-9, 3-8, 6-5, 5-6, 2-8-1, 7-5, and 8-5 at VT and he’s still standing.  Why?  He’s the right guy for VT.  I thought Randy Shannon was the right guy for Miami. I guess they don’t like character, class, and honesty down on South Beach.  I guess LeBron took over the WHOLE town.
